Guelph Soccer is excited to announce a new technical alliance with the University of Guelph Department of Athletics. Expanding on the Junior Gryphons partnership that was formed in 2016, Guelph Soccer and the Department of Athletics have been in the process of developing a more integrated technical program that will be of greater benefit to the membership and our community. Both parties feel strongly that this modern approach will help achieve the club’s technical goals by offering new programs and providing access to facilities and expertise that are renowned for excellence that will promote and improve the game of soccer in Guelph. Congratulations to our club coach and technical staff member Justin Springer as he prepares to receive his 8th International Appearance since August of 2016. Springer, recently graduated from the University of Guelph Soccer Program where he had a five year stint as a Gryphon and was named team captain for four years, he was able to put together quite an impressive career as a Gryphon earning 5 OUA First Team All-Star titles, one CIS/USports Second Team All-Canadian award, a CIS/USports National Tournament Team All-Star, he was also the latest recipient of the W.F. Mitchell Sportsman of the Year. The Gryphons had an impressive season in his last year as a Gryphon where they captured their first OUA Gold medal since 1990, and placed third wining a bronze medal at the CIS/USports national tournament. Springer rejoins his national squad after an impressive run at the Tri-Nation's Cup hosted in India during August of 2017. The St.Kitts and Nevis national squad played the host nation India in their second match of the tournament where they drew 1-1, and also came away with another draw against the African side of Mauritius in their first tournament match where they drew that game 0-0. St.Kitts now prepare to build from the impressive run at the Tri-Nations Cup and look to keep the momentum going as they get ready to play hosts to Grenada on December 2.
We wish our club coach and technical staff member all the best and goodluck in his upcoming match!
