Guelph Soccer
Community Education Program

Welcome to our Guelph Soccer Community, and thank you for being part of our soccer ecosystem! The goal of our Community Education Program is to equip you with all the important information and resources you need, to best support you or your player on their journey with soccer!

As part of our mission to strengthen the community of Guelph through the joy of soccer, Guelph Soccer works to support community development as part of our responsibility to promote the game.

Guelph Soccer is a not-for-profit soccer club that provides quality sport programs which are fun, inclusive, and accessible. We are a Canada Soccer Youth Club Licensing Program Member Association Level 2 holder, which is the second-highest level in the standards-based program. We value the importance of gender equity in sport and run a federally-funded program to engage more women and girls in sport, called the She’s Got Game-She Can Coach Project.

At Guelph Soccer, we aspire to provide a participant experience that ensures everyone in our community falls in love with the game of soccer in whatever capacity they belong. For young players, that means providing a development environment that is appropriate to the age and stage of their individual development not only as soccer players but as children and youth.

We also wish to provide a quality soccer experience to our coaches; many of whom volunteer their time to support player development. Our development staff ensures that coaches have access to the latest materials regarding the Guelph Soccer playing model, access to coach education both internally and as run by our governing bodies, and access to mentors to guide their development.

In addition, the match officials of our community and their development and well-being are reliant on a safe development environment. In order to learn their craft, match officials officiate games, and just as developing players and coaches, must be provided a safe, positive environment.

Lastly, the administrative staff and volunteers that run the club, manage our teams, assign the referees, and ensure that equipment is packed and ready at the start of each season are a part of our commitment to community development and positive environments.

In support of these commitments, Guelph Soccer has developed this community education package that provides details from our team on the rules, regulations, standards, and governing principles that we adhere to as a club. Our development team has prepared details of our player development principles and club terminology to help newcomers to our community.

We believe every member of the Guelph Soccer community has the right to a quality experience and a responsibility to contribute to the well-being of their fellow community members.

If you have any additional questions about these community education initiatives or the participant experience as a member of the Guelph Soccer community, please email david.frizzell@guelphsoccer.ca and the appropriate member of our team will follow up with you.

Guelph Soccer thanks Fouge FC for their support and contribution in creating our Community Education Program.
