Guelph Soccer Club Announces 10-year Partnership with Guelph United F.C.
Guelph Soccer is pleased to announce a 10-year player pathway agreement with Guelph United Football Club (GUFC) that will help grow the sport of soccer in the Guelph community.
Guelph Soccer will now offer U21 Men’s and Women’s teams affiliated with GUFC, a member of League1 Ontario. This partnership extends the player pathway within Guelph Soccer, offering our youth players, and those up to the U21 level, who aspire to compete in League 1 with increased opportunities to do so. Together, we have created an optimal environment that fosters a quality relationship aimed at promoting the natural growth of local talent, and we couldn’t be more thrilled about it.
As per Conor Brogan, Guelph Soccer Board Chair, “Creating this long-term partnership is integral to connecting their players with our youth to bridge the gap between youth soccer development and League1. Guelph United offers training and development to players to compete at the highest level, providing our players with valuable experience with their local League 1 club.”
David Frizzell, Executive Director of Guelph Soccer, expressed on behalf of the club that “Guelph Soccer is thrilled to be partnering with Guelph United F.C. This allows us to provide our players with the opportunity to develop within the club and go beyond to play at the League1 level. We are excited to have players grow to play semi-professional soccer right here, in the city of Guelph.”
GUFC’s General Manager, Keith Mason shared that “The Guelph United F.C. family are very excited to affiliate with our local youth club. This partnership truly comes naturally, with Guelph Soccer delivering soccer to youth, and GUFC supporting adult players looking to play at the highest level in the area. With this partnership, both clubs can now offer a pathway from cradle to Pro, and that is fantastic for our community.”
