Guelph Union and Children’s Foundation of Guelph and Wellington Announce New Partnership
Guelph Union is happy to announce that the Children’s Foundation of Guelph and Wellington will become the charitable partner of the Union. This unique partnership brings the League1 franchise closer to one of its clear objectives: to reshape expectations and think differently about how we improve the sporting landscape in our community.
The Union will initially take aim at contributing to the Foundation’s Free to Grow Program, which nurtures the physical, social, emotional, and mental well-being of children and youth through recreational and life-skill opportunities such as sports, arts, camps, driver's education training, and leadership development.
“In addition to working together on the four major programs at the Foundation, the partnership will explore more ways that our athletes and staff can connect with the community and make a tangible impact,” says Onkar Dhillon, Head Coach for the Union.
This partnership is an opportunity for both Guelph Union and the Children’s Foundation to further the development of youth and children in the Guelph and Wellington area through unique programs that cater to each individual’s needs. Through collaboration, both organizations have been able to showcase the importance of coming together to build brighter futures in our community.
Emma Rogers, CEO of the Children’s Foundation, states that, “We are committed to the expansion of our programs to help the children and youth in our community to grow in whichever ways they need. This partnership is an important step in allowing youth who access our programs to find their niche and be able to participate in more programs that they want to be a part of. As a team, we are excited to see the successes of the opportunities that we are able to provide.”
The Union is very proud to announce that the Children’s Foundation’s logo and tagline will appear on its home and away uniforms for the 2021-2022 seasons.
“The Guelph Union represents leaders of tomorrow and we are very much looking forward to these strong women becoming accessible role models and change agents in our community,” states Sara Orrell, Executive Director of Guelph Soccer. “Through collaboration with our strategic partners at the Lang Innovation Team, we were able to make this major milestone happen. It’s so wonderful that across our team jerseys will be the Children’s Foundation logo, an organization that is dedicated to making positive change in our community. It is also extra special to us that the Foundation’s CEO and her senior leadership team represent incredible strong female leadership in a major local organization,” added Orrell.
