2020 Summer House League - Cancellation

Dear Guelph Soccer members,

This is probably one of the hardest emails I've ever had to write. On Friday, May 29th the City of Guelph made the following announcement: Guelph summer camps, recreation programs, permits and events at City facilities are cancelled until at least September 8th 2020.

Unfortunately, with this announcement, Guelph soccer has no choice but to cancel our summer house league season. We are so incredibly saddened by the news but we respect the decisions made by our local health authority and municipality to ensure we remain safe. 

Personally, I feel for our children; those that were planning on a return to the fields for 2020 and those that were excited about their first official soccer game. I know my kids will feel this. I also feel for our coaches and the many, many volunteers that were eagerly awaiting the return of outdoor soccer. We are already planning for a hopeful return to soccer in the fall and will be sure to have a fun season of soccer planned as soon as it is safe to do so.

As you know, our Club is very dependent on our summer season. Being unable to hold sessions this summer will create some financial challenges for our organization. With that said, we have committed to providing you with a few options for what you can do with their 2020 summer house league registration; 

1) If you can, we ask that you please roll your 2020 registration into 2021. 

2) If that is not possible, you may absolutely request a refund. We do ask that you consider making a small donation of $20 to help with administrative costs. Please send your request to customerservice@guelphsoccer.ca and we'll respond as soon as possible. 

Today is a very sad day for us an organization, but we know that there are many out there that are even more challenged by the COVID-19 pandemic. We send our positive thoughts to all.
