Long-Term Player Development

The Canada Soccer Pathway provides a roadmap for players of all ages and aspirations who want to play soccer at the recreation, competitive or high performance EXCEL levels, with the aim of encouraging lifelong participation.

Experts in sport science have identified seven stagesof development — each with its own physical and psychological characteristics —that form the basis for LTPD. When young soccer players are able to train and compete in an evironment that's appropriate to their stage of development, they not only perform at their best, they also have more fun.

Ontario Soccer - Video Practices

The video series, which debuts new practices every month for players ages 4-12, aims to make the game more enjoyable while building off of the Player Development Model for young players.

The series includes practices for the Active Start, Fundamentals and Learn to Train age groups. Each video is accompanied with a PDF version of the practice, which coaches can then print off and take with them.
